Ayurvedic, a traditional medical system, was developed in India more than 5,000 years ago. The term “Ayurveda” originates from two Sanskrit terms: “Ayur,” which signifies life, and “Veda,” which signifies knowledge. When combined, it means “understanding of existence.” Ayurveda is more than just curing disease; it involves comprehending the unity of the body, mind, and spirit with nature and utilizing natural treatments to bring back equilibrium and sustain well-being.According to Ayurveda, all things in existence consist of five elements: earth, water, fire, air, and ether (space). These components come together to create three main energies known as “doshas”—Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. Balancing each dosha is crucial for overall health as they signify distinct characteristics in the body and mind.
